May is a month that many residents start moving home for the summer or start getting ready for their next apartment. We thought the month of May would be a wonderful time to do a clothing drive for our location KARM store. KARM stands for Knoxville Area Rescue Ministries and they work in the Knoxville area to provide recovery services for individuals that cannot afford them. They have stores in our area that accept donations and use those in their store to sell. They use the money made in their stores to help provide the recovery services.
We posted this on our Instagram stories for residents to donate throughout the month of May. We placed boxes out in our lobby and residents placed their items in the boxes throughout the month. At the end of the month, we had so many residents donate that we needed to take two carloads! In total we had over 40 trash bags full of items to donate! This was great for our residents to be able to get rid of unwanted items before moving out and was a great benefit to our local community.
